    Hi,

I am in the process of collating documents for my 2 children in the Philippines and I am stuck with this SA 302. My husband and I are both self-employed in housing and have employed a solicitor to deal with it, paid and needless to say I am getting frustrated as I have left numerous voicemail and not heard a dicky bird from her.

I am applying for ILR for my 2 children as based from what she said I entered UK before 2008 (2005 to be exact), 2006 granted with ILR, 2009 got my citizenship and it's only now that I am able to prove that I am financially able to support them to live with me in the UK.

I have contacted my accountant and she said it would take about 6 - 8 weeks for SA302 to be issued and I am conscious of the time as I know that the embassy would require new income tax return again come April and I wouldn't want to wait for another 6 - 8 weeks as my kids have already got TB screening last month and I am aware that it is valid for 6 months.

I have a proof of registration HMRC, letter from HMRC disclosing our Unique Tax Reference, business bank statements, personal bank statements, audited accounts from my accountant and my VAT, I am just lacking SA302 and oh my patience is really running fast with my useless solicitor, very quick to bill but not quick to respond :(

    Please help.

Hi joyclarke, your accountant will have requested a copy of your SA302 from HRMC and I'm afraid they do not rush things, they only rush you if you owe them money as you know. The SA302 is a important document in your visa submission as it shows exactly how much tax you have paid over a given period and thus makes it an important part of the financial side of you application.

I'm sorry I cannot give you any specific help with this one as you are up against a Government office that does not give any sympathy to your cause.

Thanks looks like I have to wait until this last piece of document shows up. I just have to hope that it arrives before my new tax is due as April is not really far :( Thanks Timmers you've been a great help, I just wish my solicitor just said no you need this instead of not returning my calls.

I know what it is like waiting for an official body to get their finger out, only recently my wife received her new passport just three days before she was due to fly to the Philippines to attend her daughters graduation, government agencies whether British or Philippine do not seem to care unfortunately. Maybe when your solicitor does eventually call you back, they may say to proceed without the SA302, but proof of paying tax in the UK must be part of the application I'd have thought.

Good luck, hope you receive the SA302 very soon.

Yes, I just moved there recently so my wife would have access to the Metro to work in Manchester, once she has been here a while and learned to drive we will probably move elsewhere, although it is good to be near a medium sized town.
