The jeepneys really need taking off the road, when I was out and about, I witness more than 60% at night with no lights on because they dont work, and also worn out tires right down to the wire, to make matters worse, NO Jeepney has a hand break !!! these contarptions are a relic of WW2 and are dirty, noisey and uncomfortable, unfortunately there is no alternative cheap transport, so I guess this iconic but unsafe for of transport will be around for a few number of years yet

My understanding is that there are moves to change the jeepneys out to more modern forms of transport, including e jeepneys.....

Pinoys would flock to whichever is the cheaper and more efficient form of travel.

If it's four-wheels attached to a carabao, heck I think we would go for it, if it would allow a faster and cheaper travel.

Ecology, and PETA be damned. =p

We have horse and tram here, just like it was in the nineteenth century. But only as a show piece.

Sure kicks out a lot of effluent though. :D

I'm just stating Pinoy mentality. We are fast adopters when it comes to the Internet, movies, latest trends, etc.

But if it's choice between a trend or cheaper price, we'll opt for the latter.

Hence why you'll see 'Unlimited Rice' deals in fast-foods and cheap restaurants.

Since rice is cheaper than meat, fish and veggies, most Filipinos will opt for more, and more rice even with just a little bit of side-dish.

It's not 'ulam' with rice anymore. It's rice with 'ulam.' HAhahahahaha...

As the "middle classes" expand in the Philippines, no doubt they will exercise a choice in favour of comfort, convenience and safety. And speed where possible.

My wife used the MRT where she could, when she had a choice.

What airline will you take to the UK? The cheapest or the most convenient or one with a better service and comfort. It will come down to a combination of price and those other factors, depending....

I saw the unlimited rice adverts. Mrs Ash often chuckles at them. But she still thinks in the terms you describe, though she is moving away from that way of thinking.

Then hope that she'll stop at half-way between low cost and luxury. Hahahhahahahahah...

Sorry to hear that, but Cubao isn't the best place I would recommend to stay. Even myself is scared to take a jeepney there, I always take an LRT as it's safer.
