Thanks, I was trying to find out how long it takes to arrange a marriage in pinas. I live in the uk, and I'm planning to marry my filipina girlfriend in pinas later this year. Because of work commitments, I can only visit pinas for 2-3 weeks. We would like a church wedding in pinas, but I'm not sure if we can arrange it all in 3 weeks.
It can be done, at a push.... But you will be chasing your own tail from arrival to departure.... On the whole it will be a heck of a lot faster and cheaper to have a civil wedding. If you are divorced in the Uk, you will have to overcome the Catholic Church hurdles of the Matrimonial Tribunal.... Which for a substantial donation will investigate your divorce and decide that, yes, you are free to marry.... But it takes months.... Civil, is a doddle....
Welcome aboard Dougal! As Dom said it can be done, at a push. Had a church wedding in Pinas and my hubby was there only 3weeks. If your gf can do most of the things to organize it, and knew someone in the city hall who can assure both of you that you can get the marriage licence after 10 days you apply it.. Meaning the first day you have to do is go to the british embassy to exchange your CNI and go straight to the city hall for your marriage licence (inclucding you have to have a seminar). Where church, reception and all other things has been booked and planned. And if you're not a catholic (this is if you are having a catholic wedding) you will need to have a seminar aswell, be baptized and confirmed b4 the wedding day... So, just ask if you need more infos, we will be happy to help you Good luck!
I totally agree with with Aromulus, 3 Weeks (21 days) is Just about possible if you can get all your 'ducks lined up AND you have some luck with processing. These days there is now an additional potential delay due to CNI conversion at the British Embassy due to an appointments only system just introduced this July. Take a read here also :- http://www.british-filipino.com/sho...married-in-the-Philippines!&highlight=wedding Some useful information.
