Yes, you will probably need to take an A1 English language test before applying for a spousal visa. There are a couple of exemptions to this requirement. For more information read here...

As you can see from the above link, IELTS is accepted as meeting the English A1 language requirement, but other tests are available too.

Like KeithAngel says, there is a test centre at the Golden Peak Hotel but there are questions over its legitimacy as a business. The safer bet is with the British Council, which you can read about here...

Are you also aware of the CFO seminar that has to be taken before leaving the Philippines?

I don't think it will happen; the world is due to end on 21 October, 2011.

Joy, there is quite a lot of good stuff here on the forum that can help you with the English language testing.

I just did a quick search and have discovered that a couple of recent important postings I made appear to have gone missing. I will try to find the infomation again and re-post them.

    The new UKBA listing here:-
    http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/new-approved-english-tests.pdf

This shows all the approved Providers and all the Tests. The minimum level for settlement visa is A1. So any test on that list at A1 or above is OK

There certainly has been talk of the Home Office deciding on IELTS but nothing firm as yet.
There are two types of test for IELTS :-
    Academic
    General

Both tests are aimed at a higher level that A1

As a first step why not check out the new approved provider test centres near to where you live then see what tests are actually available and the levels on offer.
