how long do the Home office usually give their decision on a spouse visa?

    Hello Guys!

I'm just wondering how long does it usually take to have a decision on a spouse visa? I handed my application and biometrics at VFS Cebu last Oct 27 and until now I still didn't get any email coming from them. I know that usually takes 2-4 months but upon reading some of the threads they usually got a decision within 3 weeks after they lodge their application. Oh dear! this drives me crazy.. Hopefully I can have the decision soonest time possible.

My application took 30 working days. Others have taken longer. You have to be patient you've barely been waiting 4 working weeks.

Every application is taken on its own merit, some may require some further investigation thus leading to delays for every one else.
So, I wouldn't start panicking or loose sleep over it.
I know very well, that the wait can be mentally crippling and most annoying, but that is the way it is, am afraid....

    Good luck.

You've got some point there @Aromulus. If you wouldn't mind me asking what are some instances that would lead to further investigation? Sorry for being such a nuisance.

    Difficult to say, really.

It could be anything or nothing.
The only thing one can do is to wait and hope that everything that was submitted was present and correct.

My wife and I, had to wait exactly 6 months for a EU Family Permit. But I knew from the start that they would not let us wait any less...
    So, we waited.

Hello Shanaz. It's also worth pointing out that you should also check your junk mail. Good luck! :)

hi @portia! I'm not really sure I'm afraid. In my case, I paid for the SMS service, later that day when I applied, I received a message from VFS through SMS that my visa application has been forwarded to UKVI.

Probably the UKVI people will send a message if they have made a decision through email and if you avail the SMS service, they will send it to you as well via SMS. That's what I reckon. o_O:lol:

To me the wait from biometrics and decision has not bothered me a bit, but it was the waiting days from when you got an email ,decision has been made, and the delivery or pick up date is the craziest.o_O

Text service seems unreliable. We registered for texts and received emails and no texts. You may as well forget about it. What will be, will be.
