What do members think likely amount for applicant is needed for a visit visa acceptance?
Staying mostly with me and friends.
My partner has full time work.and payslips .I also know large deposits just before visa is applied for is unacceptable.
Some suggestion source of funds to be declared??
What are members knowledge on this ?
    thanks

Interesting question. I am in the process of helping my ex wife to apply for visit visas for her mother and her aunt. In her case she has a huge credit limit on her Barclaycard - the result of running up a credit card debt of the same size and then paying it off - and I have told her that ought to be more than enough.

One piece of advice that I was given here and which I have passed on is to ensure that the visitor has travel insurance. Seems a good thought.

Depends in the situation. Who are the visitor?

If the visitor is going here on their own and funding 100% of your trip, then you need to show you have enough cash and credit card limit to fund it. Last time i applied, my 6 month bank stmt showed enough amount - around 75% of the cost of the travel in local currency then stated that 25% will be charged to credit card. (I had a detailed file breaking down the cost of flight, accommodation, all the tours and attractions, all the meals and restaurants i wanted to visit, travel (tube, domestic flight bus) within UK etc and that equals to my savings - all research i made using the internet).

But if the visitor is a close relative staying over with you, then its slightly different amount. Will you be paying anything? I know some members wrote letter to the ECO stating they will shoulder the accommodation, food and some tourist stuff but i would still suggest they (visitor) have enough money to pay for something even for pasalubongs/gifts and some tours and dinner.

There is no generic rule but i just made a sure that the ECO will not question my ability to fund my travel. I also made sure i saved that amount over 6 months so no question asked as to where the money came from.

thankyou both of you.I will be providing cost of the trip, and yes she has savings for 30% of cost of trip basically 200£ a week pocket money, not needed for accommodation food or travel
obviously will only book travel insurance if visa granted

    Update
Rose got her visit visa, she had £750 in her account , that had been saved over 6 months (thats quite crucial, no last minute deposits) better your partner saves her money over a period of time before
just be wary vfs is now not returning documents, so send certified copies or originals and keep certified copies.
bank statements and payslips or income/property details documents must be originals
