Hi guys . Generally how long after your partner has submitted her documents at the VFS centre has she waited before getting them back?

Varies, it can be up to three months according to the UKVI.

You get all your original documents back when you receive the decision/visa if you paid for the courier service.

Seems to be averaging a couple of months at the moment if the postings on the forum are anything to go off.

Thanks Timmers. I had thought they called you to collect your documents before the decision was made.
Then it was a waiting game.
    Oh drat :/

    It's the settlement visa right?

You first submit the personal details online where you book your appointment to submit your documents at the VFS office, at the same time you can book the premium service the submit the documents (better to do this and it is only cheap). At the same time you can also pay a little extra for the visa courier service which means the visa and original documents you submitted will be despatched to your loved ones home via courier, this is usually one or two days after you receive the email telling you that a decision on your visa application has been made. That's what happens in the Philippines, I would check if the same happens in Singapore.

Settlement visa yes, even though you are bringing her here to the UK to marry (visa validity 6 months) you are en route to a settlement visa (5 year route)

Ok most helpful Timmers thanks :)
We are in a bit of a quandary just now.
There will probably be another new thread today or tomorrow after she has been at her agency in Singapore .
    Will explain more later lol

Going to the agency will make things a little clearer for you I hope, after visiting them you will hopefully know how to proceed in getting her passport back and what needs to be done regarding terminating her employment through the official channels.

Just one point, the Premium Lounge Service includes courier delivery of documents back to you.

It will be interesting to see if the visa process in Singapore where sixtynorth is applying from is similar to the Philippines experience.

From what I have read, no matter what agency UKVI uses, be it VFS Global or some other agency, then the services offered by the agency are the same, and that includes the premium lounge service.

Also, from what I have read, VFS Global is operating a scam in S.E. Asia (at least in Thailand anyway) so that visa applicants fail, just so they can get more business. If VFS Global are acting on behalf of UKVI in Singapore, I hope that the same scam does not operate there.

In Cebu, VFS Global don't seem to be providing snacks that are supposed to be inclusive within the Premium Lounge Service.

For myself, we submitted documents in Manila on July 1st and got them back August 12th. 30 working days. When I was trying to estimate what would happen, based on what I had read of other people's experiences, it seemed like lots of applications were taking about the same. The official figures claimed about 60% within 30 working days and 95% within 60 working days. something like that.

Certainly will share the experience :)

The current update I have is this :

She has spoken to her employer who seems fine about her visa application. Says she will not obstruct her if that's her wish.

But, the employer will be terminating her contract early November and take on a new helper, which I can understand but makes our application all the more precarious .

If we don't get the visa Irene will go back home to the Philippines and we will have to apply again. New English exam needed as well.

Also I will have to send payments to her family to cover her loss of income not to mention the application fee and English exam cost

So much riding on this but we must face it sometime . Must be brave and see it through :)

I'm certainly feeling a lot better about things today than yesterday Timmers :)
She will go to her agent tomorrow to ask about any possible charges but she is confident there will be none and as long as her employer is happy too then it's sounding good :)
    Fingers crossed :)
