Hi handyman and welcome to the forum..

The rules for each European country are different in how they process a visa and how you apply to those countries to live there. Though all of them share a need for certain skills and people with specialist qualifications. Examples are usually doctors and engineers, but this changes from time to time depending on the country and the needs at the time.

Just speaking English (or Dutch for Holland) is not enough to migrate to the UK or to Holland, both these countries require other attributes such as a degree or a skill that the country would be in need of.

There are sometimes when this is not the case, when low skilled people are needed for the manual jobs that these countries have. However, with other countries in Europe providing cheap labour it is getting more and more difficult for people outside Europe who do not have good qualifications to enter on a work visa. As an example, my mahal is a qualified care giver in the Philippines but she would not qualify to enter the UK to find work with that qualification alone.

    Do you have any qualifications?

i have met a pinay who was hired by a company here as a food technologist... she was the inventor of lucky me pancit canton... she was sent here by Monde Nissin to study, came back to Philippines.. but was pirated by the UK factory where she worked as intern... she's now doing the food formulation for instant/microwavable food that are sold in ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury, etc...

i guess with other EU nationals coming over to the UK to look for work, competition became tough... my advice to you is not to limit your search for working visa in european countries... with your skills, you have a better chance if you try canada, australie, new zealand... with the cut-backs here and the rising unemployment rate and increasing visa fees, local businessmen may not be willing to pay for working visas at the moment... but who knows? you may find one! keep searching!
