I guess the obvious question is what prevents you from getting one ?

It’s a long story, do we really need one?

If the local Registrar requires a Birth Certificate from each party - and they generally do - then you will have to provide one.

He came here when he was young from Portugal, I'm guessing original certificate is long lost and not easy to replace, but King don't you also have Indian citizenship?

Can't one of them issue a birth certificate?

Yes I was born in India to a Portuguese and British parent, so I hold all 3 citizenship.
I do have an Indian birth certificated which is in English and I have a Portuguese birth certificated, but the problem is I don’t know where I have put them.
So will have to start looking for it.

A few quid and you can get a replacement from the registrar.

Or has it got to be the actual original piece of paper...??? To me it sounds unlikely.

In Europe, Birth certificates are only valid a maximum of 3 months........

They don't need the actual original, a copy issued from the registrar would be fine.

Regards the second point 3 month validity in Europe sounds as mad as the 6 month validity in the Philippines, I have my original and some copies and they are all valid in the UK :)

If I remember right I took my birth certificate from India in 2007, so will it still be valid or I have to get a new one?

It'll be valid, how could the Philippine registrar say it wasn't.

I will be home on Sunday and I will turn the house upside down and try to find it.

Also What should I provide for this: Legal Capacity?

This is done to keep identity fraud to a lower level and of course to have some revenue from time to time.........:D

You need advice from someone who has done it, Legal Capacity is that you can prove you are free to marry, but I think this is the new affidavit thing that you have to do at the British Embassy, others will be able to help you better with this question.

I did think that there would have been a very valid reason for the Barangay to help offset a couple's carbon footprint........... Only I could not fathom what exactly...
Thanks for clearing that up for me...........
Only in the Philippines........... A new way to extort money every day...........
