We went on a regular visit to Costco at Milton Keynes but the huge crowds stunned and surprised us somewhat. Could it only be down to the 'strike day'? Couldn't be bothered to spend time looking around for what we wanted and for some reason ended up at the Tesco store near by. Anyway the point is that quite by chance I found a Chilli Sauce of special note. It's called Dave's Ghost Pepper Gourmet. It's Naga Jolokia hot sauce and says on the bottle that it's "So Hot It's Spooky" And.........I can say it's the hottest sauce I've ever bought. Basically it's too darn hot. I'll have to experiment and see how to turn down the heat a bit and turn up the taste. It's this sounds like your sort of stuff, then get yourselves to Tesco.
I like a bit of heat but not insane heat these days, ordinary green or red finger chillies are enough for me, one would certainly not want to handle the Naga Pepper with bare hands This wiki quote is about the Naga Pepper.
Apparently the Naga Viper in that sauce has been trumped by the 'Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper' Which is apparently nearly 1.5 times the strength of the Naga Jolokia. Don't know of any products using the the 'Trinidad Scorpion' though.
Ahh, blink and you miss it.. I checked the Scoville scale last night on the wikipedia page and already it has been altered! Some joker had at some point added Chuck Norris as the hottest thing known on the Scoville rating system Ahh well.. Was mildly amusing whilst it was there.
For those that prefer to get their hot stuff online, have a look at http://www.firefoods.co.uk/ Ring Sting Relish... mmm...
I thought about buying some chili seeds available on those online stores. I wonder if they would grow in a pot on the balcony of my apartment in Manila?
Used to work with a guy who grew his own, he was a foodie and had a few pots with them in. Might give it a try myself next year, but there is some info here on how to grow your own
I must admit that I do like a very spicy meal from time to time, but for some stramge reason I don't like Indian curries. I do like the ones I cook myself, or my goos lady prepares for me. But lately, at various shows, I found all sorts of stands whenre chilli sauces of all heat and denominations abound, and one of these days i will get one or two jars, hoping that my other half doesn't make a mistake and kills us both...
