Seems IE9 is asking me if I want to disable some add-ons. Doesn't really explain what the outcomes will be if I disable them. Here's my data and times Google Toolbar (0.14 seconds) Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper (0.14 seconds) Google Toolbar Notifier BHO (0.13 seconds) Adobe PDF Link Helper (0.09 seconds) Inbox Toolbar (0.09 seconds) Should I disable any/all? BTW how can I get back to the page that allows me to change anything if needed? Thanks in advance for some help.
They are not using a huge amount of time so probably no harm in leaving them. Personally I disable the Google toolbar in IE and its notifier as I am not a fan of toolbar accessories, don't feel they are often written all that well.
I leave it as it is. I use my Google toolbar and tool on a regular basis, in preference to Bing or whatever else... Because they will only refer back to Google, anyway... Disabling the add-ons doesn't make much difference to the speed, if any at all. I reckon it is only Microsoft objecting to you using somebedy else's bits and bobs.
Hi Micawber, I disabled the add-ons too. I access Google and many other things from the favorites toolbar at the top of the page. You can alter things from the "cog" symbol in the top right corner below the window close x box.
Thank you sir for replying. I just installed IE9 yesterday and it usually takes me quite some time to the hang of these things. I keep trying to move to the top left to get to my favourites
Being somewhat obsessed with privacy and security I don't use toolbars, as they just seem another avenue for virus infection! I just set the home page to iGoogle instead. I disable the Adobe Reader Add-on when I can in Chrome, and use Chrome's own PDF reader instead.
Yep totally agree with that Howerd. By the way I also hate Acrobat Reader it is just such a buggy piece of s**t, try http://www.tracker-software.com/ and look for the PDF XChange Viewer, it is a lighter weight program with much less historic baggage than Adobe Acrobat Reader and was engineered from the ground up. Tracker software are an exceptionally good company I have been using their tools for a long long time, their PDF-XChange Printer driver is probably the best PDF printers that exists and the API for it is superb, nothing else matches it, plus I think they were British originally when I first used them back in 2002
