fly to Manila and get a flight from there to either Pagadian or Ozamiz (both suit)

or should I fly to Cebu and change there?

I am looking at taking a quick week break next week (fares are pretty reasonable then)

I don't know Cebu at all.

I'd say its broad as it is long. I guess MCIA doesn't' have the hussle and bussle as NAIA.

I would avoid Manila at all costs unless both your international and domestic flights are from the same terminal.

I know emirates are flying in and out of terminal 3 now because of the work happening at NAIA. Don't know about the other carriers. I'll be flying out of terminal 3 tonight for the first time on an international flight back to work. That may make things easier for you depending on which carrier you get.

Arrived at work. Terminal 3 while ok is still a long way off normal international airport standards. On departure side I was disapointed by the lack of facilities and the early closing times of eating establishments. The quality of food is poor from what I experienced in the palces that would still take an order. To be honest if I had time I probably stay on the airport side for something to eat and go through security later on. Also from what I could see there is no paid lounge to go to (even though its clearly sign posted!?) as there is at NAIA which for me is a bit of a pain. Still the plus side so far is its easier for us to get to.

I seem to recall that Mr Donut serves a decent "Coffee and Donut" combo meal.

Good coffee available at the TinderBox smokers cafe at the end of the departure mall. I find that a strong coffee can sometimes be improved by a bit of passive smoking. ;)

Well I don't drink coffee and i'm a firm believer that alcohol is the only drink to be consumed in airports! o_O

San Mig is not the best of beer, wish there was Handpumped Real Ale in Manila T3!

Here's my pre-airport "three green bottles" for tonight, I fly from Cairo at 03:30, in five hours time.

Surprisingly not a bad beer, far more drinkable than San Mig.

Tim Taylors Landlord planned for tomorrow! :like:

Bugger cant see your picture. I worked out of Egypt for nearly 4 years, which beer is it? Hope its not the local Stella. That stuff gives you a headache while drinking it!! I used to drink Sakara which was ok as long as it was ice cold.

I to wish for hand pumped real ale any where in the phils. i'll be back to the Uk again after this trip for about 5 days so really looking forward to a good few pints of Pedigree. (Gods chosen)

Yes I posted a picture of the local Stella that I took in El Horreya cafe last night, just before I headed out to Cairo airport.

I tried the Sakara but it had a bit of a dry edge to it, perhaps as you say it was not cold enough.

The best Egyptian beer that I drank during my month in Egypt was the Luxor Weizen, a German style Hefeweizen beer which I was told is brewed near Hurghada.

All the beer in Egypt gave me a headache, I thought it was due to the hot sun.

    Nah its just crap!!!;)
Have to be careful with the spirts out there as well. They will often replace the contents of the branded vodka, gin etc with some locally sourced stuff but still charge the premium rate. tax on alcohol was something like 200% when I was there
