    Hello,
I'm new here, does anyone knows about the income threshold my husband needs to meet when I apply for ILR next year.Is it still £18,600?He earns more than that but I'm a lil worried because he got a letter from his boss about redundancy and what if he'll be out of work?will they send me back to the Philippines? The LIUK test is what holding us up for application as I can't concentrate studying with two lil children around me :(

If you review the ILR notes you will see that it requests financial information but it doesn't specifically mention the 18,600 limit.

If you're ready for ILR next year then you would have been pre July 2012 rules, no?

My wife is in exactly the same position in that we have 2 kids and I think she will find it difficult time wise to retake both her English and LiUK test. She will have to do it of course, she needs to.

    Oh and :welcome: to British-Filipino

Thanks halohalo! I arrived in UK on May 2012..Can I ask you a question please?.Have you registered your children's birth at the Phil embassy here in London? If so,did you use your wife's maiden name as their middle name?sorry

We haven't registered their births at the embassy. Its not something we've considered
Tell me, what is the advantage, dual citizenship?

Don't worry young lady, nobody will be sending you home if you follow the rules which I'm sure you do :)

    Welcome to British Filipino :)

Yes makes total sense. Try not to get hung up on being sent back. You should be excluded from the financial requirement if you got here in May 2012. I think people who haven't done LiUK test have been allowed to apply for FLR in order to get sorted but obviously there is the expense.

Can your husband not support you a bit more with the kids so you have time to study in the evenings for example? I'm sure other members will confirm regards dual citizenship.

I personally don't think the middle name is so important as long as you get the recognition from the embassy, that's what really matters.

Thanks Timmers! Yes I do follow the rules and regulations of the UK.I am not claiming any benefits. My husband does, just child benefit though. As I said this redundancy letter worries me a lot as there's a possibility that his boss will close the company. Not easy to look for job nowadays with that sort of money he's earning plus his age lol :D

I can understand the age in relation to finding a new job in the UK but thankfully for the main the UK has left age discrimination behind many years ago unlike the Philippines and many other countries.

As HaloHalo has stated, there is no financial requirement as such for the ILR so I wouldn't worry about it too much if I was you although the fee for the ILR is pretty steep at around £1100 for standard application for one person but you will not have to pay the NHS surcharge I believe.

He works night and sleeps during the day so it's not easy.I tried to study in the evening say like 10 or 11 but sometimes if I'm too tired I just go to bed and get some sleep.Anyway HaloHalo thanks for your reply :like:

You will have to apply for the ILR when your present visa runs out no matter what to keep inline with the immigration rules, I believe you can apply no sooner than 28 days before your present visa expires.

@Micawber may be able to give you some more detailed information on this, wait for his post.

That's correct. I called their hotline once to enquire about this and they told me that. 28 days.

It gave us a 3 day window to apply and keep the English test valid, but then our English test turned out to be invalid anyway so we took another. It took a lot of the time pressure off actually.

I'm curious how nicegirl is ony applying for ILR now if she's been here since May 2012.

That's more than 3 years. If she came on a fiancee visa in May 2012 it would give 6 months and then 2 years FLR befor applying for ILR. Is that correct? That takes us to November 2014 at the latest.

My wife got her fiancee visa in December 2012 and came on the 5 year route.

Hi Maharg! I came here on May 2012 through marriage visa, got married and applied for FLRM and it was granted. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not professional in terms of this even my grammar haha.Anyway I believe that I can apply for ILR because I enter the UK before the 9th of July 2012 as a new rule?hmm dunno really.Sorry coz what I understand is that I can apply for ILR as I am under the old rule? But whether I can apply or not the problem was that LIUK test and I haven't got it.So I applied in February 2015 for FLRM and t'was granted and if I pass that LIUK test I'll be able to apply for ILR before my visa runs out.#Confusing:)

    Ah, ok.

So is that what happens if you don't have the Life in the UK test? You need another period of FLR? Thanks. That's interesting.
