    Hello, everyone

    Long time no see. :)
I have had my first spouse visa since Nov. last year.
I am wondering the rules of how long I can stay out of the UK if I will need to apply to be a British Citizen in the future..Are there anyone have the answer for me? Thank you very much. :)

We have discussed this a couple of times on the forum and I cannot remember the exact amount of days you are allowed to be out of the UK for (180 days rings a bell though), having said that I do know that if you have a very good reason to be absent from the UK for example sick parents/family back in the Philippines then you are permitted more time outside the UK, you would however have to provide evidence as to the reasons for an extended stay outside the UK.

I did read a while ago that a person lost their UK ILR because they spent a very long period outside the UK.

Search the forum for threads relating to this, I'm sure you will find some hard facts, I think @HaloHalo provided some.

I did a little Googling and it appears you are allowed 180 days outside the UK over the five year settlement route, the five year period starts when you enter the UK or apply for the first FLR if you came to the UK on a Fiancée visa.

As I mentioned in my first post, you are permitted more than 180 days outside the UK if you have a good reason that can be backed up by documentary evidence on your return to the UK.
