Any thoughts on who maybe the best internet and / or tv providers in the Phils? We'll be living (at first) in olongapo so we should get something reasonable. For internet I'm thinking Globe, Smart or PDTL. Got no idea for a TV provider though. Any thoughts folks?

If you can get it then go for Sky Cable you will get high speed broadband as well, no relation to BSkyB by the way.

PLDT can take forever to sign up to, if you are going to be moving around then you might be better with a wireless broadband solution i.e. a dongle, SmartBro is ok but horribly variable, a few years ago I used to get between 400kbit max and 40kbit or nothing at the low end and of course when it rains the internet gets cut off, wireless does not like going through water, heavy rain really attenuates the signal.

We asked Sky cable if we could get their service at the time the only fully digital cable service in the Phils and they said no so we went with the local cheap analogue cable company, a day after we signed with the local company we got a call back from Sky who were suddenly desperate to get a foothold in our subdivision too late though.

Just looked at the sky cable website and they appear to be very limited in their coverage. It looks like they don't cover Olongapo. Bugger!!

Mark mentioned something about them and Subic recently I got the impression that really good high speed digital would be available from them in that region, maybe I am getting confused with something else?

I think that was PDLT. I think that they only provide internet though, which isn't a problem. i thought it maybe more convienent just to use one provider but it looks like I may have to use separate providers for different items.
