Hi I'm Bill and I live with my partner in a rented apartment in Combado, which is situated just above the South National Highway in Bacong, which is about 8 km south of Dumaguete in Negros Oriental. I've been here this time since last June. This is my second time in the Philippines or Dumaguete to be more exact. I was here from October 2013 until February 2014. That was not a very good experience.

Hi Bill. Just reading your comments on another thread.

Is it a same sex relationship? If so, I don't believe you can get married in The Philippines so would have to go down the Fiance visa route.

A tourist visa cannot be converted to a fiance visa I don't believe.

Be careful with what information you get from people as I'm pretty sure that's not good advice. Perhaps someone else could confirm my opinion, but that's how I see it.

One problem I think you may get is that you are both in The Philippines. You may have to come back to the UK first and settle here for 6 months before you can apply for a fiance visa. Maybe your partner could do a 6 month tourist visa at that time, but may then have to go back to The Philippines to apply as a fiance.

I don't believe you can get married on a tourist visa.

Thank you all so much for this information. We intend to apply to get married at the British Embassy. I am going back to the UK to find a place to settle down - may have to be a rented room with utilities included in the rent, in order to keep costs down. That is fine. I've done it before. I will be looking for a place in Greater Manchester.
