The secret to Norway's success could be linked to its appetite for rakfisk - a smelly fermented trout that is a local delicacy - says Kieran Cooke.

My ex-wife was always rather proud of the fact that I was one of the few foreign not to object to the smell of bagoong.

You're a good man bobcouttie :like:

I've given up commenting on the smell and usually take that opportunity to cook lamb. For some strange reason my wife hates the smell of lamb cooking.

I've eaten quite a lot of different dried fish and must say that it tastes pretty much as it smells. I can eat it it but don't really choose to.

Bit like Durian. I do not like the smell and would not choose to eat it. Again to me it tastes just as it smells.
I eat it just to make people smile and it's not a terrible task. I normally don't eat any though and can't see the point.

Must admit I did one time try some horrible fish in Sweden. Can't remember what it was called but I do remember it was probably the worst smell ever.
I didn't even agree to try it, so it must have been pretty bad.

Hmm, Durian, rakfisk and Stinking Bishop are all very similar...

Flying from London to Manila you fly over the no pork zone, the no beef zone and finally the no lamb zone...:D
