Hopefully these groups don't have the numbers to succeed and the terrain may benefit the Filipino authorities in fighting these groups.
An Islamist group affiliated with Daesh has been operating in Lanao Del Sur for at least the last 18 months and several of its fighters have been involved in Syria and Iraq. They are the most depraved and bloodthirsty of all the various terrorist groups, including Abu Sayaf, whose modus operandi they often copy to deflect the blame. They are mainly Filipino.
Can this post be made private to members of the forum? I am going to say some hard truths that might 'offend' ppl. It is alarming to know that they are in mindanao. Im going to be 'stereotype' here but the ppl from that area have an unsual notion of the world even foreign from ppl from mindanao like: - Arranged marriage for their children younger than 10 yrs old is still persistent. - Male admirers can kidnap women they like and 'marry' them to legalize their actions. - Votes are for sale to the highest bidder thats why their place is where every one looks at for massive electoral frauds - 'rido' (or family fued to death) still exists - its one of the major source of illegal drugs, guns, fake money, stolen vehicles. So no wonder they end up thinking like this. They cant even implement or improve their lives from ARMM experiment and yet they want a caliphate? I sometime think or hope that they just say this stuff without knowing the full extent of its consequences.
