At nine this evening there will be a live debate involving the leaders of the main political parties all hoping that they will be walking into number 10 next month.

I was rather hoping that the debate would just be between the three main parties, Labour, Conservatives and UKIP as I think this would be more fun to watch. As it is we will hear from less prominent parties like the Greens and Lib Dems. We live in a Democracy though I suppose.

I am fearing that Cameron will be able to hide and keep out of a lively debate due to the numbers involved and allocated speaking times.

I hope it doesn't end up a shouting match.

I'm still looking forward to it though :)

I'm pretty sure the debate starts at 8pm, Tim. On ITV. Ends at 10 and only 1 commercial break (of 1 hour and 52 minutes ).

Did you watch the interviews and questions for Cameron and Milliband, a few nights back?

I watched it and found it quite dull and mundane, I'm hoping for a bit more fire and passion tonight, especially from my friend and yours Nigel :)

I think by sheer weight of numbers, he and the rest of them wont get much time to say much. He will also be up against the rest of the minority parties.

There is a chance it could be a flop, simply due to the numbers involved

    Watching it now.

    Nigel is in isolation.

Noticed that the Green Party leader brought up the £18600 threshold as being too high.

    Wrong, ref Farage.

IMO, Farage is the one making the most sense.

Half-time poll - BBC Web site
    Posted at 21:14
An ITV News/ComRes poll of 615 people watching the debate put Nigel Farage in the lead at the half-time stage. Some 24% of people felt he was performing best, ahead of Ed Miliband, who most impressed 21% of people. Then came David Cameron (19%) and Nicola Sturgeon (18%), followed by Nick Clegg (10%), Natalie Bennett (7%) and Leanne Wood (2%)

Well for me the person who came across best, by quite a long way, was the woman from the SNP. And they don't stand where I live.

I don't understand the national admiration for Farage. He just comes across as a bit of a dick to me.

IMO, Farage wiped the floor with the lot of them.

I was a little disappointed, none of them stood out, just making me think that it is highly likely that there will be another coalition.

Could have done with sub titles really when the SNP and tree hugger party spoke

What's a half Australian doing in charge of the green party anyway?

The reason he came across quite well is because he states a lot of good facts about immigration.

I disagree that Nigel was isolated, he answered his questions well, certainly held his own without a doubt.

Over all I feel there is a stalemate between Labour and the Conservatives I really do, and that's not good for politics and the country as a whole.

21% popularity tied: Cameron, Milliband and Farage. (Source BBC News)

The pole I saw tonight had UKIP with 1 seat in parliament. A good deal of influence they are going to have in the next parliament!

I don't do politics. I've said it before and I never seen the standup debate previously. Nicola Sturgeon seemed the most convincing of them all, super composed and most convincing. If I lived in Scotland I'd back her all the way. I live in Wales but plaid cymru were embarrassing. The green party were the only party that give non EU immigrants a mention
