Jack Straw?

Has anyone seen the latest from Jack Straw? See this BBC article...

Personally, I think he is simply stating a simplistic version of what is happening in this country. Yes, there are people who view none Muslim girls as worthless and like a piece of meat. Though, I would challenge him in stating this is a Pakistani problem.. I would guess a few Somali's and others had this attitude to women too.

The thing is that the vast majority of offenders in that kind of enterprise are of pakistani origins. And although somalis embrace the same religion and beliefs I haven't heard of any that have done the same yet....

Besides, Jeck straw ain't a stranger to courting a bit of controversy.... If you remember a few years ago, he did say that he felt very "uncomfortable" having to deal with the burka issue in his own surgery...

On the main... He has a valid point.... I have to admit it even if I don't like the other 99.99% of labour crap he used to spout...

You're correct in saying that there are no Somali gangs or anything going round "grooming" young girls. I was talking more to the point to the lack of respect for women by some of these groups..

As far as the Jail term.. I think in this country we are way too nice with rapists and other violent offenders.

Interesting point with Thailand, and perhaps some truth lies there. After all, it is an old saying for young men to sow their wild oats! But where do they do this? Same in Muslim communities, where it is expected that they marry a Virgin yet men try to lose it as soon as they can (though not to their future wife). I think modern western societies are getting better as we no longer expect women to wait until their wedding night, this means that young people as a whole can learn about sex before they settle down..

And as for no smoke without fire... I guess we will see......
