As I work from home I have the following sign on my door... and on my letterbox... Each new Kleeneze agent completely ignore these signs! Today, a new Kleeneze agent knocked on my door asking for the return of her catalogue. I told her I no longer had it and pointed towards the door signs. Her retort was that she did not have on her glasses (but she was wearing them) She then walked away saying: "I don't read signs, I deal with people"! I guess that explains why she parked in the middle of the road (at a T junction) with the front of her car jutting into the cross of the T! Perhaps she wanted to deal with a Policeman, rather than read the signs?!
Numpties! I throw their magazines in the recycling (thinking of mother earth) and tell them that when they come round to collect them, after explaining for the umptenth time about not want then shoved through my letter box.
I had thought about putting the shredded catalogue back into the plastic bag, leaving it under the doormat, with a message offering to sell it back to them as cat litter!
I agree it can be annoying, especially when you take time to politely explain that you don't want anything and please stop pushing the catalogues through letterbox. Both Kleeneze and Avon operate in our area and continue to ignore my requests. Whilst I'm in 'grumpy old man' mode I also want to vent my annoyance that most of these catalogues and junk mail seem only to be pushed halfway through the letterbox, thereby letting all all the cold air!! Why can't they push it all the way through. On the other hand, I guess doing their best to earn an honest living.
One reason for not wanting junk mail is there is always a possibility of visiting the Philippines for a few weeks and I have a transparent cat flap - meaning anyone could see the post building up each day. Thinking now of putting similar signs on the gate. I figure they may just not bother to open the gate and walk a few feet if they already know I am not interested.
Well, I do have a spare panel for the door (without any cat flap opening) Will probably put that in for any lengthy stay away from home and may be put up the flood gate on the door as well. I have two cats - no way would I let them go!
I like cats Howerd, always have, love their independence, never been as keen on dogs, understand completely!
I love dogs too, just that they need to be taken for walks on a lead and my disability means that is not really possible. I do take the cats for walks though - they don't need a lead and they follow me wherever I go! A few months ago, I delivered some communications to 30 local houses and my cats followed me from house to house - but only ventured onto the properties where they knew they were welcome! It is quite a talking point when I take the cats for walk! The reason I bought the bungalow I am in now is so the cats would have somewhere to walk - in the playing field behind the house; but that was re-grassed a few months ago and closed to everyone. The cats still expect to be taken for a walk down the road though!
.... however, there's always the other side to this story ..... For years I've delivered the Electoral registration forms, and on a few occasions, apart from these notices I've had people actually open their doors and say to me "Oi, can you read ?" My standard reply is now "Yes, what do you need help with....your library book, correspondence from your landlord, your child's school report ?"
Delivery of Electoral registration forms is a legal requirement! No doubt they would soon complain if they never received them!
