Ever wondered why some KLM aircraft are branded "KLM Asia" and have a slighly different KLM logo? Read on...

KLM asia is a subsidiary of KLM, which was created in 1995 for the purpose of flights to begin to Taipei on Taiwan.

During that period, the PRC no landing permission to airlines also flew to Taiwan, which they consider as a part of China. To get around this problem, KLM established a subsidiary registered in Taiwan to Taipei flights performed.

The aircraft operated by KLM Asia are painted in the colors of the parent company and bear the name "KLM Asia". Although they KLM logo, missing the crown.

This legal structure was KLM the Chinese authorities to keep on claiming that it did not itself flew to Taiwan.

The same design was also used by companies of other countries, such as British Asia Airways, Air France Asie, Japan Asia Airways (a subsidiary of Japan Airlines) and Swissair Asia.
