A female Korean call center agent lost cash and valuables amounting to P250,000 to pickpockets on a passenger bus Monday morning.

Un Ju Seo, 40, who works as a call center agent in Manila, told the police that unidentified men stole her pouch containing cash amounting to P21,000 and US$5,000, said Mandaluyong police investigator Police Officer 3 Marlon Climacosa.

The thieves also took her IDs, ATM cards and a picture of her mother.

The victim said she was on a bus traveling the southbound lane of Edsa at 7:45 a.m. Four men took the seats next to her, she told police.

The men disembarked at the corner of Boni Avenue near a Caltex gasoline station in Mandaluyong City.

When the victim noticed that her pouch was missing, she decided to get off the bus to run after the suspects, but they were nowhere to be seen.

Climacosa said a tricycle driver brought the call center agent to the barangay (village) hall and then the police station to report the robbery

Keith, that is absolutely spot on as far as the Japanese go. Even now it's still a very 'cash minded' culture.
Don't know that much about Korean thinking on that, but my guess would be yeah, it's the same.

Got be extra vigilant when using the bus/jeepney

Actually the other reason is that the Filipinos are not too fond of the Korean's as they tend to a have a snotty nosed superior attitude, Ana speaks Korean and catches them out when they are being side behind people's back.

But then again the Filipinos also rob the Koreans blind when they exchange currency, they take about a 25% cut for converting WON (KRW) to Peso :D I had to change some once :)

Yeah I know, Ana has a Korean bank account too, nae money in it but she has an account :)

Korea while very modern has very country specific systems, like their phone system is almost unique worldwide :) I can imagine the banks being similar, Korean Air's website is awful and they have all sorts of weird rules about payment :erm:
