Landing a job in UK using your educational attainment in the Philippines

Hello there everyone!! Me and Ate Florge was been conversing about some preparations about living there in the UK. As Asians, I guess it will be a little hard for us most especially Filipinos for we value strong family ties but as technology goes forward distance does not matter though but it always feels good being with your loves most especially the people you grow up with. But I guess it won't matter being away for a little may it be career or finding your true love.

Let us go back to the topic again :) As me and Ate Florge were conversing, we came across about the necessary documents we PINAY must bring with us when we have finally decided to live with our fiance or husband in the UK. One of the documents we have tackle on is the Educational Credential such as the transcript of records and diploma all must be in English and must be used in abroad. I was also been told by Ate Florge, that if I would wanted to know if my educational attainment here in the Philippines would be recognized in the UK I must try to have them reviewed by UK NARIC (http://www.naric.org.uk/index.asp?page=14). But, Ate Florge mentioned to me that it is not a guarantee that they might give comparison / qualification that meet the UK standard. So I presume that it would be very difficult to every Filipino to look for a job in the UK unless we get an education under the UK system.

I guess, this would be the challenge anyone might face if they wanted to work over there as soon as the proper time comes. Currently, I have been asking moderators and site members for site where in would give updated list of schools that is recognize under the UK Educational Standard for it might help future applications to checked there own documents and credentials.

We would gladly love to see your comments if you can give us any idea or help with regards to education and job hunting for anyone who is not a UK citizen but wishes to work in the UK when proper time comes. And also, would be studying in the schools here accredited in the UK would help in the long run?? Yeah, I think so but might be expensive too!! LOL going to a good school needs lots of money and more time to spend with :(

BTW, planning to take any culinary course or HRM related courses for a span of 6 months but I don't know if it would help me in the long run when im with my fiance already. Do you think will this help?

Yes Dennie it is very difficult for us Pinay to find a job we wanted to start as our curriculum is not been recognised here in the UK but you can take the naric.org.uk or go for a further study here to be able to qualified to the UK standard.

HI Ate Love! Does it mean if I get to study at least a six months course here in culinary will not gaurantee I would be able to land a job over there? Do you have any ideas how can I have my credentials accredited by NARIC?? Shall I submit my requirements from here to there??

Hi Dennie... you can visit Naric's site.. I think you can do that... expensive package though since you will have to spend for postage from Pinas plus payment for the assessment...

Ooh no Ate Florge can't believe the cost I would pay to have my credentials be evaluated. hahaha such a fortune anyway but I will be colaborating with my fiance with regards to this matter as he is open to everything. We might opt to have my credentials evaluated before I get there.

Ate Florge, would it be ok to ask you what are the steps you did in having your credentials evaluated? What documents did you acquire and how did you submit it to UK Naric?

    :) Thanks Ate!

    Dennie,

I never had my credentials evaluated... I felt that there wasn't a need for me to do that since I won't be studying anyway and I never practiced my masters in Pinas... I was a trainer and for me to practice that here, I need to have a CIPD certification.. and in getting that certification, I wouldn't have to submit my credentials.. just pay and study...

The instructions on how to submit are in the website so just have a read...

I thought you have yours evaluated ate :) im just worried with the cost just to have them evaluated. I will try to look around here while im in Pinas of schools that is accredited in the UK but I have researched already and found none LMAO!! I honestly get confused with regards to this issues as one of my major concerns is to help my fiance when I get there and not to be burden to him :) while enjoying the site of the lovely places there :)

you're right.. there is none... because our school system is patterned from the US ... so as I have said before, get your documents ready for evaluation... my plan is to find a job first (any job that is) so i can save some money to use for NARIC, as well as get the certifications that I need to be a qualified HR practitioner here...
