Of course. He takes the boxes to the UK mainland anyway. He did that when working with LBC. So yes. He may have done that. It hasnt escaped my attention, that one. Anything is possible.
Well, I was gobsmacked today. Kabayan Nelson texted us, after a long interlude, to say that our box is scheduled to arrive in Manila during 3rd week of March. He has given us contact numbers too. So maybe, just maybe, it will arrive at its destination and intact too. We shall see.
His story, if true, makes sense. But he never either told us or asked our permission to send the box(es) via another carrier.
Well as long as your stuff turns up then its all ok apart from all the stress / messing about / boxes being late
Of course. Trouble is, I thought LBC were the bees knees in Balikbayan box delivery. But even they have proven unreliable, for us.
Finally we got word today that our box has arrived in Manila, exactly 2 months after it was collected from us. We wait to see if it is intact and not been plundered. It left here under the "LBC flag" but has arrived in Manila under an "independent banner". Time will tell...
And finally our box arrived at its destination. And intact. LOL. Am still peed off that Nelson diverted our box via a different carrier. But all's well that ends well.
I am not approving of the methods used to deliver the boxes, but he must have had a much better deal from another company somewhere else which may heve enabled him to skim some of the money for himself... But, hey, it got there.
Basically, LBC owed him a lot of money and showed no sign of paying up. So he decided to sever ties with LBC.
Well all's well that ends well. The time frame isn't too bad either considering everything that gone on. I still think I'd use LBC over B&L Lilley in future
Any substantial reasons for this Sub? Just wondering as we are aiming to crackdown on our negatives and improve.
Welcome B&N. You should read the whole thread, if you do that you will understand clearly what Stu is saying and also you will learn a bit about our (as in we the UK public) view of the kind of services that your industry provides. Once you have read the thread in detail please come back and discuss, you are very welome!
Just like John, I think this will be my last balikbayan box. Lilley has failed in the past to collect balikbayan boxes and, more recently, failed to deliver empty boxes (on two occasions) so I was left with no choice but to go elsewhere. The local agent for my area never returns phone calls whatsoever. So I decided to go with LBC. I was told someone would pick up the box today and would advise me what time they are coming. As that did not happen, I rang LBC who said that they never guarantee pick-up dates but that it would be picked up one Tuesday between now and November - they could give me no guaranteed date, only saying that could guarantee delivery by Xmas! But when I placed my order they said that collection could have to be made by mid-September otherwise they could not guarantee delivery by Xmas. Eventually they gave me the number of the pick-up driver whose wife confirmed that he had not been given my collection details by LBC. The lady said she would ring her husband to come and collect anyway. A few minutes later she called to say her husband's vehicle suffered a a puncture so it would be late tonight or tomorrow morning that they will collect. I too don't believe that LBC have tracking of balikbayan boxes and, despite what their packing list says, you cannot buy extra insurance for balikbayan boxes. This suggests to me some failure in their system (probably because no tracking is provided) meaning no insurance company is willing take the risk. In future, I will just use World Remit to send the money to the Philippines, which takes just seconds, rather than weeks and is far more reliable than either Lilley or LBC. I have better things to do than spend £80 for an unreliable service that will collect my box one Tuesday between now and November!
I agree. Very shoddy service from a company that puts out that it is the Rolls Royce of Balikbayan Boxes. Easier and cheaper to send money, unfortunately.
