Yeah, and that really annoys me I reply Hindi Amerikano Or sometimes, naw pal ah'm Scottish, just to see the puzzled expression
I forgot to say that whatever I do I smile and wave and maybe say a few more words to show that I am not mayabang.
I saw this guy perform live in Freemantle in WA. He's awesome! He actually joined Australia's Got Talent, but sadly he didn't win.
Very little of that here in Bohol (just once for me here) but very common in Luzon.. I always replied "Hi Jun Jun" and everything was sweet.. No big deal if you really look at it in the great scheme of things..
Chris made me guess how to know if a man wearing kilts is a true Scotsman... Hmm I rather enjoyed that guessing game.
I went to Livingston in Scotland six months ago and met a security bloke. I made a comment about Scotsmen wearing kilts and he got VERY angry with me. I drove into the distribution centre sharpish. I spoke to him on the way out and asked him why he became so angry. He told me he was from the highlands and didn't like Sassenachs bringing up the word kilt. He said he hated people from Glasgow doing it too and they are also Sassenachs! http://www.arts.gla.ac.uk/ScotLit/ASLS/SWE/TBI/TBIIssue13/Sassenach.html
To K's parents' neighbours, and to the outer circles of her vast extended family, I am "Cory's Kano". She hates "Cory" and I hate "Kano"!
The thought of looking up a Scotsman's kilt makes me shudder just the same if it was an Englishman wearing a dress.
One for you, Jenibele I have traced my family name back to Scotland so maybe one of my ancestors wore a kilt and fought the English.
Interesting question but probably off-topic The Scots make jokes about the English, the English make jokes about the Welsh the Irish and the Scots and so on. The stereotypical Irishman is seen as being thick , the Scot tight (kuripot) and the Englishman being an aristocratic snob This is a good explanation here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Englishman,_an_Irishman_and_a_Scotsman As a Scot the Irish are fellow Celts and I've always been fond of them, and I have Irish blood from a couple of generations ago
