I would like to know what airline offers better service and is reasonable fare for January or February 2015 trip. any suggestions? i would really appreciate a response for any experience you had during the time you fly back and forth London to Philippines. this will be my first time to try to make an itinerary for someone. i mean i can search the actual fares online, but i dont have any idea which airline offers good service. anybody who can share their experience with this airlines from the previous trips? i'm looking forward for any kind of response. Thanks!
I have flown here from London - both Heathrow and Gatwick - and travelling via either of those airports is something I intend never to do again. Ever. More recently I have flown from my local airport in the UK to Amsterdam and thence on to Manila with KLM and although this airline isn't one of the top 10 inflight service-wise, its fares are very competitive and its arrival/departure times in Manila are such that onward connections from NAIA 2 or 3 are possible (certainly to Cebu and Davao). Emirates is highly rated and favoured by some here as is Cathay Pacific which has a good connection on to Cebu. PAL offers the only direct non-stop service but its fares are not cheap and its departure time from Manila is horrible - 7am.
Coming from London China Airlines also , from Amsterdam to China, then to Manila, thats about 1000BP more or less (but husband said, i must not take it from Manila,China , to Amsterdam) he waited 9 hours for connecting flight. lol he did not noticed his itinerary
At the moment Cathay Pacific have a sale on and this tends to happen about every 3 months. If wanting to use a less busy philippine airport and do not mind having to transfer somewhere else, then Clark airport (angeles) luzon is an option. Cathay Pacific using DragonAir and changing in Hong Kong is an option. Emirates also fly from here and i think Qatar airways are also flying from Clark. Cathay pacific seems to have the shortest journey time which includes a transfer at Hong Kong. If you become a frequent flier and join asian airmiles then you get the opportunity to board earlier and increased baggage allowance, but there is a membership fee. I suspect all the other airlines would have similar schemes. Usually you have to trade off journey time versus cost. I haven't used Philippines Airways, but they seem to have direct flights and a greater baggage allowance, operating from Manila.
thanks for the response Nickel! kinda pricey for China Air...is this a last minute booking or advance booking?
thank you for this one world! that's an idea.. somewhere else to arrive/depart. Cathay as i observe has shortest connection time and flight duration. thank ya'all guys for all response.
Also depends on the dates that you want to fly. Start with Skyscanner or ita Matrix to determine possible routes, the ita Matrix website is an excellent site that shows a calender of lowest fares if you have flexible dates, the Matrix site does not take bookings, just shows the possibilities. Check the airline websites once you have found the routes, generally better to buy direct from the airline than via an agent website..
