I've been to Camden Town a couple of times most recently August 2019 and Canary Wharf, Also been to to the Royal Observatory at Greenwich but I didn't spend enough time there and that was a long time ago.
Been in London today, chatted to a guy in a coffee shop in portobello market doing King Charles cakes, and the guy in the golden pie pie & mash shop is expecting business to boom over the Coronation, really nice day in the city
I have chatted to a few of them before, they aren’t really intimidating,I can imagine they would get short thrift should they try to disturb the Coronation in any way.
I will be in Londinium again from the 28th of April for the duration of Grand Designs at the EXCEL. Looking forward to the work and camaraderie with my friends and colleagues, but I won't be going out and about town at all. I will be taking my spare Amazon Fire stick, just in case there is a Smart TV in the AirBnB where we will be staying. So, the drill is to buy as much food as we think we will use on arrival, and then just top up in case we run out of something. The younger ones, most probably, will be going out, thus leaving this old codger in peace and quiet.
I live in London and find London to still be an amazing city. Yes it does have its issues, but it is a great place to visit.
I was in pie and mash shop last week when we went to portobello market, er indoors loves pie mash & stewed eels, I saw a filipino restaurant in Southall last week, had food in a Persian resto in Chiswick yesterday and an incredible meal in the ivy Chelsea last weekend, London is a fantastic city, roll on the Coronation, the atmosphere will be off the scale.
C'mon, it tastes fantastic, I am in the gym 3 times a week, have never drank alcohol nor been overweight, that has to balance out a bit of pie and mash?
Are you at the EXCEL in London Victoria Dock? If so, and your not going to venture out into the area, I think your barking mad! Canary Wharf is a 10 minute buss ride away,Trinity Buoy Wharf is even closer, IFS cloud cable car is on the doorstep. Madness to stay in, madness
Thanks for the suggestions, those are all places that I had the fortune to see and as the say... seen them once.... London just like Manchester or Liverpool don't have a pull factor for me. As the places, for various reasons dont attract me to settle down. Places like Newquay, Falkirk, Berwick on Tweed, Bonn, Amsterdam, Leuven, Trento, Tivoli, or Zagreb gime me the pull factor, where I start wondering on prices of property and overall cost of living thinking of a move to calmer climes. I live in Wrexham, and life doesn't get any calmer than that, unless one follows the local footie club.. Yes, I dont like large cities, where everyone runs around, without a smile on the face, stressing about near enough everything. I love Munich, Cadiz, Sevilla, Rome, Venice land to a little extent Florence, but for the history only. I would not live there full time
London is NOTHING like Manchester or Liverpool,it’s reputation as one of the worlds greatest cities in the world is untarnished,it’s going to be buzzing next Saturday, people in far flung corners of the globe are going to be watching one city on TV……..London.
Sevilla is the most beautiful city I have seen, sadly only through a car window thirty-odd years ago. I was blown away and would love to see more of it. It is incredibly hot in the summer though when the kids are off school. One day, one day...
I went to Sevilla when I was living in Malaga. I watched Sevilla vs Malaga (Football) can't remember the score but yes a beautiful City indeed. That was in the late 90's.
In Covent Garden’s having lunch, just chatted to a Japanese family here for a week to watch the coronation,London is buzzing,it’s packed
