Since the Affirmation for Marital Status is the only document that requires effort to get, after we get it from the embassy, we didn't waste more time. We immediately proceed to the local civil registrar in my hometown to ask about the requirements we still need to provide for the application for marriage licence. We were asked to prepare the following:

    • CENOMAR
    • His Affirmation for Marital Status
    • Our birth certificates (attached on his was the Deed Poll document)
    • Certificate of Tree Planting - we planted one mahogany tree near our area, and asked for a certificate to our chairwoman. Cost us Php 30.00
    • Wallet Size Picture
    • Pre-Marriage Counselling Certificate - we attended a 4-hour seminar that basically tackled family, social welfare, marriage, and health. However, they didn't give us the certificate right away. They were the one who attached the certificate on our file.
    • Payment of Php 165.00 for the application of marriage licence, Php 55.00 for the issuance of it and Php 55.00 for the marriage counselling.
After we submitted all the said requirements, our photos has been posted for 10 days, and we were asked to go back after 10 days so they can issue us the marriage licence. The local civil registrar interviewed us. Only basic questions. And then we proceeded to the Hall of Justice to ask them what are the dates available for a wedding. We settled for May 30, 2016.

After 10 days, we finally claimed the licence. And she also gave us back some of our documents that she authenticated. The licence is good for only 120 days. We went back once again to the Hall of Justice to give the names of our sponsors. And we just waited for the big day.

Our 'pre-marriage counselling' was very funny and enjoyable... (and actually only took about 30 mins) . Very easy and cheap to get married (civil ceremony) in the province, was my experience. :like:

Hi. Lucky for you. It took us 4 hours for that marriage counselling. And they even said that it was 8 hours before and they reduced it to 4. :) I will try to post the process we went through whilst applying for 13A Visa.

We didn't have to attend marriage counselling. Or indeed plant a tree. That last made me chuckle. Only in the Philippines.
