My wife owns a large house and lot, funded by myself. I have just moved here, but have been coming over for extended vacations over the past 14 years. Listen to what Boots says. Do six months in the Provence, rent then after you think it's okay have a good look, but be very careful and always take on board what experience expats say, or not.

I had an idea a few years ago to divide some land up that the Mrs owns into smaller lots and then lease these lots at an affordable price for up to 50 years to family, friends and approved acquaintances..
We nearly went ahead until one night the Mrs said to me,"What if one of us dies? Not only will the surviving spouse have 6 months to pay the estate taxes on the land but also ALL the improvements built by the lessee"!!
OMG..What an idiot I had been!
We threw that great plan of mine out the next day with the rest of our rubbish!

Hello! Mine was a 1 bedroom flat that is about 45sqm. I think the location also dictates the rent. The building is a prime spot, very near Boni MRT station and Ortigas Business District. It is ideal for folks like me who used to work in the said area.

Php11k for a 25 to 27sqm flat is the usual rent. And flats are normally more expensive that house rental, again also depending on the location. Flat owners are also more inclined to raise rental fee than home owners.
