    Hi All,
Does anyone know the minimum amount a long term partner / GF should need to have in her bank account in order to get a visitor visa?

Also my GF reckons that my financial status has no bearing on her getting a visitors visa ? is this true ?

    Cheers

She is right. Plenty of people get tourist visa without needing a sponsor. So long as she can demonstrate that she has accommodation for her stay either through staying with someone or funds in her account to cover the trip, finances aren't a concern. The main issue is that she needs to convince ukvi that she will return to the Phils at the end of her stay. Having a job, owning houses or businesses or being enrolled in full time education are examples of good reasons to return to the Phils.

Thanks so much for the reply. Any ideas on how much you need to show in the bank to cover the trip for a month ( if accomodation is covered)?

Personally, I would ensure that she has enough in the bank to cover reasonable expenses for the duration of her stay. If you were staying in the UK and sightseeing for a month, how much money would you spend?
I would say between £1000 and £2000 would be a plausible amount.

Hello DJB! Please read my recent thread about our plan in applying tourist visa next year. I just want to ask, one of the requirements is 6months bank statement. So let's say my boyfriend will put 100thousan in my account 6months before I apply, It means I will just leave it in my account so that when I apply, I can show them that I have money in the bank?

Exactly, the immigration officer wants to see that you can support yourself while in the UK with no recourse to public funds.

How about if I pay bills that under my name such as internet and electric bills and I have to withdraw money, will
I show the receipts so that they'll see where the money goes? And will it be suspicious to them that I don't have work but have that big amount in my account? What if I have earned that money from my work before abroad, will I have to show them evidence?

I've read it here that I need 6months bank statement. Its one of the requirements, isn't it?

Dont over complicate it !! all the officer wants to see is that you have enough money in your account to support your visit.

Don't get too excited until you have the visa in hand, you have a little work to do before popping the champagne cork :)

I hope you are successful, you are putting a lot of effort into the application which is good.

I don't want to get too excited but I really can't help it! Hehe I want to gather informations as early as possible to succeed on the first attempt. But, denied or approved, I am ready to accept it.

Oh man, don't kill her joy! :)
We have the same thinking @Lilet Quijada , a rejection doesn't mean the end of the world. As long as we can keep trying, life goes on. Stay positive!
