Everyone is aware of the new minimum income requirements from 9 July, but there are a few exemptions from those requirements.

Rather than place an additional burden on the UKBA to determine if someone should be exempt from the new income requirements based on disability or a carers role, the government is automatically exempting the following from meeting the new income requirements...

1, Those in receipt of any of the following disability benefits:
     Disability Living Allowance
     Severe Disablement Allowance
     Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
     Attendance Allowance

    2. Those who have a caring responsibility and receive:
     Carers Allowance

Those sponsors (in any of the above categories) are exempt from the new minimum requirements and only have to meet the existing (Income Support Level) requirements.

The exemptions from the new minimum income limits for carers and disabled may only apply for the next 9 months! The government will review these exemptions and there is no guarantee they will apply from April 2013!
