Hi! when I was new here we took a contract for a mobile and I was surprised when they talk about credit check. :erm:
So I asked about it and was told I have to be in the uK for 3 years before I can take up a contract so I can only get a monthly rolling contract for the meantime.
But the Carphone Warehouse staff was cheeky and offered me a 24 months contract knowing I haven't been in the country for 3 years. :p
I didn't know he puts 3 years on my present address for me to be able to take up a contract.
In other words I had a contract. :chain:
Then when I moved to another house, my landlord asked me a favor to allow letters for his friend to arrive in our address.
I didn't know this buggers has debts, took a loan and cars etc. and ran away. So the BMW company knocks on my door every now and then to check if this buggers ever came back in this address they send bailiff letters etc. :hiding:
but of course they can't do anything as I am not those people they are looking for. :cheer:
I just found out recently that those buggers who are still using my address affects my credit ratings!
So my credit ratings never go up although I don't have credit cards and debts! :erm:

    Yes and no.

Credit checks go against the person, not the property. However, if a property is known for fraud then a fraud block can be applied by certain companies so that they just don't give credit to anyone living there.. I had this problem a few years ago when I moved to a flat that had been used previously.

Sounds like your landlord is dodgy as well. Why can't he let his friend use his own address?

If I were you, I would send anything this person has delivered back with "Gone Away" written on the mail with clear writing. Do not open anything, just return it. When the landlord asks, just answer that you've not had anything.

I did that! :like: also put notice outside for the mailman to just deliver my mails and say those people no longer live here.
The bloody neighbor informed the landlord  so he got annoyed and said the mortgage people should not know he is renting this house for whatever reason! :erm: otherwise he will cancel our contract.
My husband was angry that he raised his voice to me over the phone  but I just told my husband not to confront him as it is awkward for me to look for another house again it is 3 bedroom house and we have lots of stuff to pack and move again is a lot of work!

So the landlord lied on his mortgage application forms and likely is lying to the taxman as well. I bet he gets his rent money from you in cash? Instead of standing order or a similar method..

Although moving home is a pain, you might need to consider it.

I don't know what he is doing but he has an agent and it is direct debited every month to my account not cash!
We are leaving very soon anyway, so no need to cancel the contract with him! :D
