You never know! I keep expecting to find the cheque lying around the house meaning I forgot to post it!

My own cheque for 649 quid was cashed on 17 November. So even if postal applications can take a few months, cashing the cheque is pretty quick!

    So far so good.

Received the letter today to go to a Post Office to register biometrics within 15 days.

I don't think so. The letter says they can't process the application until they receive biometrics.

Naturally our local Post Office doesn't do it so we need a trip to Reading at the weekend.

When they ask you to do the biometrics it means at least that your application is valid as in you submitted all the correct paperwork, they give you 15 days to make an appointment for the biometrics being done, doesn't meet you have to get it done in 15 days just means you have to make the appointment.

    Nearly there ;)

I can't make an appointment. It's just a case of turn up at the Post Office and queue I think.

I did try and phone just to be sure about that but was on hold for so long that I gave up waiting. Maybe I'll try again just to be sure, but I don't think you can make an appointment.

I just put "Home Office Leave To Remain". They've cashed it so it must have been ok!

If you look on the cheque, normally "AC Payee only" is already written on there so you don't need to put it yourself. Best to check that though.

If the cheque is your husbands then he has to sign it. Otherwise it isn't a valid cheque.

On the back you write the full name, nationality and date of birth of the applicant - ie your own details.
