My Life in U.K. So far

Well yes, I did take care of myself from 18-40, after which I got married (to a Filipina).

Nowadays my 23 year-old son from that marriage lives with me (for whom I also do the washing ), and of course half of the year I'm living with my (second) wife and baby in the Phils.

Noted Sir, Thanks for the advise!I just bought a Tesco non bio washing powder. Gotta find a way to wash our clothes tomorrow because I don't want to wear jeans at home all day. Exciting! Lol

My Fiancé always jokes about the accent and tells me we will bring my son to a school outside Birmingham because he doesn't want him to speak with the accent. So far, we only interacted with an Apple staff with an Irish accent which I found weird, no offence.

Tesco non-bio? The clothes will probably come out dirtier than they went in!!

You will find a filipino store in the indoor market in birmingham for your food as my wife shops there as i am a brummie lol.

Have you seen many Filipinos there yet Joy? Lucky for you, you live in a big city there. Much more diverse unlike where I'll be staying, you don't see many foreigners since its a small town. And we have to travel to the next town to go to Tesco and bigger shops. Although there's Morissons like just 15 steps away, just next to his house but still, can't beat Tesco.

hey joy i can feel you haha im still learning so far, when me and my fiance went to morrisons last time he taught me how to use the self checkout which was kinda bit easy but i still need to learn it twice i think before i get it perfectly haha and the washing machine is the same, i learnt it 3 times before i used it without his help.
and the napkin haha that made me laugh, when i say napkin he's saying napkin is for table, you should say panty liner.......hmmm, okhahaha

Haven't met any Pinoys here yet, maybe because I don't go out that much. The one who collected our rubbish asked me where I'm from and I learned he is Indonesian. Probably thought I am his kababayan. Hehe
Will go try to shop by myself later. No nearby Sainsbury's so I'll try Tesco. Hopefully the cashier's there lol

I guess I am learning more of parenting here than life in a new environment. Makes me miss my mum

Got the washing machine working now. Had a bit of instructions before Fiancé left for work.

haha if i only know the way how to go there, ill there right now haha i need to find the train first haha then we'll go shop together.

My wife said if you ever need a shopping friend she will show you around birmingham market as she shops there lol.

2. Nestle, then buy milk for creamer. Or just go to a Pinoy store, they are likely to have Kopiki Brown/White

3. It depends if it's a big store or not.

4. Outside London, people are friendlier. Don't worry just greet the cashier/store manager when you come in the store. A little nicety go a long way.

5. Get Netflix. Just 7 quid a month. You get lots of TV series and movies.

6/ It depends on the washing machine. Basically just put in the washing powder and press the right buttons/settings.

My advice to any man marrying a Filipina in the U.K. is to save up and buy a Miele (expensive German) washing machine - the Mercedes Benz of washing machines - costs two and a half times the competition but is unbreakable and can be used all day every day for ten years, at the end of which time it's out of guarantee...

Hi thanks, we have Netflix but we haven't moved to the house yet so we aren't "settled" yet and I don't want to watch in the laptop so I was hoping free movie on tv.
I tried one sachet of Nescafé just a plain coffee plus 3 pack of skimmed milk and a tablespoon sugar. Quite good.

Look for movies on the many 'freeview' channels. Might not be the latest, but they're free.

I agree, I think there is a good cross section of viewing on the regular Freeview channels that keeps most people happy.
