I just checked and there 2239 members but only 405 appear on the user map. Not sure how to determine how many are actually active on the site.

Hi Dublin Boy. Thank you for the welcome. :)

Timmers, yes I hear you and I know what you mean about them not going out gallivanting in the pubs of Manchester etc - pretty much why I don't get to meet 'em or see 'em around I guess because I don't do much gallivanting myself either. :D

From what I can see so far, just the bunch of regulars and a handful of others so quality rather than quantity I suppose you might say. :)

    Hi Nick,

Welcome to the forum. I'm from Manchester too and there are quite a lot of Filipinos here.. just attend a Barrio Fiesta and you'll see lots!

Hi Florge- thank you and I thought you were when I checked the map thing. Was wondering where you were hiding so welcome back. lol.

I noticed there was a reasonably local Fiesta up this way in 2008 or 2009 but not seen any mentioned since and London's rather too far away but if you know of any local-ish ones happening anytime, I'd definitely be interested to know more.

Anyway take care and nice talking to you. :)

There is a Barrio Fiesta at Heaton Park near Manchester each year, I took the wife last year, they have them throughout the year at various parts of the country.

    Nick,
This is the season for Christmas gatherings and Filipino communities up and down the country will be well on with their events.
If you can get an introduction and find a way to join one or more of the Christmas parties that would be a good start.
Not easy I know, but certainly puts you in a position to make many new friends and enjoy yourself in relaxed atmosphere.

I'm not 'hiding'.. just got busy with work an li'l one..

Yes, the barrio fiesta is a yearly thing. There is also a Filipino organisation in Oldham and in Manchester - I think it's called Anglo-Filipino Manchester.. you can search them on facebook.. they have regular meet-ups..

Timmers - thank you. I know Heaton Park - went to the tram museum there in the summer. Will keep an eye open for it next year as I daresay it's already been on this year. As Micawber said, there's also Christmas parties and gatherings but getting an introduction and/or a way to join sounds very much impossible, or close to it. It most certainly would make it easy to make new friends and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and very much so, yes. Problem is you really need to know someone or someone that knows someone and at the moment, apart from you guys in this forum, that's about it at the moment for me. :p

Florge, I was only joking about the hiding. :) Lovely photo of you two btw, if you don't mind me saying. She really does look the apple of mum's eye. :)

I'll do a Google forthe Anglo-Filipino Manchester thing. Sounds good - don't go on FB as much these days, usually every other day just to check messages etc but I'll have a look on there too.

Thank you kindly for the suggestion. Appreciate it.
