    welcome aboard David!

I, on the other hand, went to the Fiancee visa route as I wanted to guage if I can live in the UK. Also, we see it as a trial period, to really get to know each other. My hubby visited me 3 times (2 weeks every visit) and for me, it wasn't enough to really get to know each other. Thus, the fiancee route as most people I know at that time, had discouraged me to go for a visit visa.

Anyway, good luck on your meeting. Take loads of photos, keep you plane tickets, receipts, anything tangible as evidence that you have met and file it for future use.. Good Luck!

I agree what of what you said Kuyapablo , Just look forward positively about meeting your gf and her family don't make yourself worry and get stress.
Me and my fiance also recently met and he never been here in Phil and i am the first Pinay he been curious to know. But the point is it is not all about how long the relationship, but how deep is the love for each other. And better to be honest and open book to each other. Getting to know really to each other are very important, and understanding. Good Luck for meeting your girl soon :)

Hi and thank you all very much for your invaluable experience, i am at a stage now where i am about to leave on tuesday to meet my girlfriend and get engaged, meet with friends and family and plan for our wedding and future together, because of my financial situation i am only able to show my earnings meeting new requirements from April this year which only gives me 3 months when i believe i will need 6 months! we are now thinking of applying for a visit visa so we can be together then apply for fiance or spouse visa later, i have also seen a visa called a marriage visa? which looks also appealing as we intend to marry soon, does anyone have any advice on applying for this as opposed to the visit visa, :)

Both are valid for 6 months and both cost the same.
The Marriage Visa, as the name implies, is to allow a marriage to take place in UK then to return to Philippines.
Means you need to have all the plans pretty much in place for a UK wedding.

The Visit Visa does not permit marriage.
