Hi everyone, I'm Sean and I currently study history at the City University of London and I'm historically interested in the Phillipines, especially the period of US involvement. I decided to sign up here in order to get some more insight in general and to just have a nice place to chat. see you around
Our resident semi-professional historian of the Philippines under US colonial rule is Bob Couttie, author of "Hang the Dogs!" - the definitive account of the Balangiga massacre.
If I might venture to suggest a subject for research best done from a safe distance, eg City University, may I suggest "The reactions of the Filipino political elite to the Japanese invasion and occupation"? You might start with the President's grandfather. .. and continue with Claro M Recto.
Sean I take it you know this book? http://www.amazon.com/In-Our-Image-Americas-Philippines/dp/0345328167 Highly recommended.
Conspiracy Theory "In the spirit of Jose Rizal's birthday, Coffee Break revisits the past and tweets some of the most memorable people in our history. They also listen to tour guide extraordinaire and history buff Carlos Celdran answer questions on Philippine history that you were too afraid to ask."
