Hi everyone, i'm Tony from Lancashire and i'm married to Erika who is currently still in the Philippines. She is booking her CFO appointment this week and i have provided her with as much info as i can relating to the documents that may be asked for but ultimately my search is for the answer to the Affidavit of Support question and i have posted my question on the forum. There looks to be some very friendly and knowledgable people here and hopefully i/we can make good use of the info here.

If i may, i will copt my question post here too in case anyone sees it and can advise me. Many thanks
    Best wishes to everyone here.

Hi, i'm new here and was looking for a specific answer to the Affidavit of Support question. I have trawled the internet and it recently brought me here, so i signed up.
As i read it, this may be a requirement to obtain a CFO stamp / certificate for my wife in Manila. Other comments elsewhere suggest it is only for the USA or is not relevant if you are married and already have the visa issued.
We were married in Capas in September 2023 and my wife (Filipino citizen) has been granted her Spouse Entry Visa. Unfortunately, we have just discovered she will require a CFO stamp / certificate to exit the country to join me here in the UK. Could anyone advise me on whether it is likely she will be asked for my Affidavit of Support ? Obviously i provided all the relevant info to the UKVI when we applied for the visa so maybe the fact the visa has been granted satifies the CFO officer on many questions in Manila ? As for the other requirements that maybe be asked for i have emailed her all the documentation. It would make sense to me to presume that because we are married and the visa is issued, only the passports, marriage certifcate and visa would be required to complete the seminar and receive her CFO stamp / certificate, but presumption is not a good idea lol ? If i have to go to London to do this, so be it but time is now running out on the visa. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I believe the short answer is... if at the departure terminal they suspect your wife may be being trafficked they have the right to ask for it and prevent her from leaving if she cannot produce it :like:

A lot of the info the wife receives at the seminar is contact details and advice in case she runs into any abuse when in her "new country" with her new husband. Sad but true.

Hello and welcome here, Tony W. :)
Sorry it's been too long ago when I was involved in visa and CFO etc.
I never went anywhere to help my wife obtain her CFO stamp in her passport, in fact I was in the UK when she went to Cebu City to sort her CFO out.

No affidavit of support required and its not a test, they will ask your wife a few basic questions on your relationship stuff like whats your home address in the UK, have you any brothers and sisters are your parents still alive basic stuff that a genuine relationship would know.
Take passport, marriage certificate, would do any harm to have a few photos of you together to show off.

Greetings. Also in Lancs area and wife also from Capas (the arsehole end of the town).

When I first travelled abroad with her in 2013 for a simple 1 week holiday in Cambodia, she was taken away for questioning at NAIA and asked some questions which made her feel very unsettled but ultimately came out of the office with a photocopied affidavit of support which I had to sign. We had few issues after that with the 1st stamp in the passport.

When she came to the UK in 2018 after doing the whole CFO thing, nothing else was asked for at immigration.
