Might be a silly question but does your loved ones employer not pay for her to return to the Philippines in May? If so you could visit her there and meet her family.

These agencies in Asia must rub their hands in glee getting money from people wanting visit visas to European countries and the USA.
They will never tell the people handing over the money that there is a very good chance that the visit visa will be turned down

    Gary,
People on here only want to stop you losing your/her money applying for a visa that she will probably not get.
Much better to plan on using the money for something concrete like getting you out to Asia to meet your new lady.

Wow they really try and milk you for every penny, £1.37 per minute plus your normal rate to talk to an advisor.
I will give you an update when I call them.

    Gary,
Many of us on here have gone through the whole process of meeting, marrying and bringing our beautiful Filipina wives to the UK to take them right through to citizenship and getting their UK passport, which is the end of the long road, if you like.
We have many people here who want people like you complete your journey but we dislike people who will try to fleece you along the way.

Answer back from gov. co.uk regarding direct visa applications and refunds.

    Dear Gary,

Thank you for contacting the UK Visas and Immigration International Enquiry
    Service.

Please, note that whether a prospective UK visa applicant can submit their
application outside their permanent residence address or not depends on
their circumstances and the type of visa they intend to apply for. Please,
refer to the policy guidance on
    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/where-to-apply-ecb05/ecb5-where-t
    o-apply-the-policy for relevant information.

The application fee cannot be refunded once the biometrics have been
submitted at a visa application centre. Therefore, a refund of the
application fee is not applicable after a decision has been made.

For any further details, or should you need to contact us again please
refer to our website at https://ukvi-international.faq-help.com/, select
appropriate country, click next and then select 'E-Mail form' and complete
as instructed. We will aim to come back to you within 1 day.

    Kind regards,
    Okan

I was thinking more with regards to the travel agent and the fee they are charging for the visa processing.

I used an agency for a fiancee visa and they worked on a no visa no fee basis, but had we been unsuccessful we would still have lost the actual visa fee.

I think it's worth checking with the travel agent. If they can get the tourist visa with a fee guarantee it might be worthwhile using them.

I don't think any travel agency can guarantee a visit visa.
They will get their money then help collate the documents to be submitted and if it is rejected, as it probably will, gary would lose his money.

No harm in checking. As I said, the visa agency I used worked on a no visa no fee basis, so it's at least worth asking.

It's not certain she won't get a visa. As Gary says, she has a job contract to go back to. Some people do get them.

If done through a travel agency it also could be done as some sort of tourism package.

Sure, tourist visas can be difficult for Filipinos, but I know of people who have obtained them.

my lady got a visit visa in july 2013--at the 2nd attempt. the 1st was turned down to a banking irregularity---even though she used a visa agent.. so its worth a try--for the cost involved----but do it yourself

Thanks for the reply guys, I spoke with her today and told her what I found out from the help of you guys. She is going to contact the agency to check. So hopefully I will find out tomorrow. We also spoke about plan B which is me going over to visit next year if all fails with her visa.

She also sent me the email that the agency sent her regarding the visa, if I'm allowed and if anyone is interested I can copy and paste it on here. Obviously removing email address and names.

My understanding is the visit visas are hard to come by, but not impossible. At £83 they are worth a go. Your gf just needs to prove to the UKVI that she has compelling reasons not to remain in the UK at the end of her stay and wont be a drain on state funds here.

If it is truly guaranteed then go for it, I would have paid £600 for sure.
