I travel to Manilà tomorrow from UK on a one way ticket. My plan is to stay there a few weeks to visit my girlfriend then travel to Hong Kong or Singapore. Will I be allowed in on a one way ticket?

Sadly not. You need an onward ticket or you won't get on the airline. Book a ticket to Hong Kong now and you will be able to present the e-ticket. You would have been warned of this when you booked your ticket.

That's cutting it fine to ask that question :)

I've seen people rushing to the airline desks in Glasgow when the check-in desk had just knocked them back for not having a forward ticket, it's not easy to make a cheap booking when you are standing in departures.

    Best of luck!

I suggest you book a one way flight between Clark and Singapore with either Jetstar or Scoot and the fare will be around £100 - £110. Consider it a throwaway ticket.

Important to note that if you're planning on staying in the Philippines more than 28 days, you will need to apply to a Regional Office of the Bureau of Immigration for an extension. Your ticket out of the country should therefore be for a flight within the extension period - and you will need to produce that ticket to Immigration when applying for the extension.

Better to carry a printed copy of the onward/return ticket, an e-ticket might not be accepted.

Might be a good idea to decide your schedule, and book your flights tonight.

I'm a bit confused here (it doesn't take much to confuse me, I am old) When the wife and I left the UK to come to Phil I only bought one way tickets, never had a problem.

Balaikbayan privilege, you arrived with your wife the airline might have realised that you would be granted that privilege on arrival, or had you already applied for a 13A visa before leaving the UK?

Well when we came the wife was still using her previous name, which was her last husbands. the airline (PAL) never asked me if we were married, she had a copy of our marriage certificate with her for the balikbyan visa for me.

thus, there wasn't a need for the onward ticket at that time as you have been considered for the balikbayan priviledge. for this trip, you would have to buy an onward ticket.. unless the wife travels with you again and avail of the balikbayan priviledge?

Well despite all the responses here and Richard Pierce logging in here this morning, we didn’t get a reply from him. Hopefully he will feedback as to whether he tried his luck or bought a ticket.

I get the feeling that tomorrow could have been as early as 6am this morning, he might not have had much time to fix it, he might have got lucky but personally I would not like to chance it.

I flew back into Manila on 19th Aug from Bangkok accompanied by my wife. We planned to avail of the BB on arrival and hence I had no onward ticket. However, having read that the BB is a privilege and not a right, I thought it prudent to have an onward ticket as a fall back. I booked a flight Manila to London Heathrow using bestonwardticket. It cost approximately $7 plus additional $3 for choosing the destination. The confirmed booking was sent to me as a pdf within minutes via email. It's a genuine confirmed booking that can be checked online. It is valid for 36 hours. As it transpired it wasn't needed, the checkin staff in Bangkok saw that I had a previous BB stamped in my passport and didn't even enquire about an onward ticket.
