Hi everyone can you tell me about copying my passport for our fiancé visa, I believe its only pages with stamps on, does it need to be in colour ? will a scanner be ok ? and do i need a professional person to verify and sign ?

It doesn't have to be colour, pop down to your local solicitors and ask them to sign and stamp the copy as original passport seen, costs around £5 for the service. You can also copy your passport pages with the Philippines stamps, ties in nicely with electronic plane tickets and boarding card stubs if you have them.

By the way, its the biometrics page you want the solicitor to sign.

So I could scan and print at home then go see a solicitor for a signature, is the biometrics page the one with my picture and signature?

Yes, scan the picture page (colour if you wish) with the page above it then the solicitor will sign and stamp it, you might want to ring round first and see which solicitors office will do it for you, not all of them do.

That's the best way, just work your way through the application ticking things off the list one by one, there is a lot more work in putting the visa together than meets the eye.

Black and white Photocopies and color scans followed by printing are both fine.

I suggest that you obtain copies (whether color or black and white) of the above passport page which contains the passport photo/details and also any pages showing immigration stamps to the Philippines. Then as @Timmers indicates, you can have all the pages certified by a solicitor.

Your application will contain an 'original application pack' and a 'copy application pack'. The copy application pack is for VFS and does not have to contain certified copies. It just needs to contain plain copies of your main application pack.

Your main application pack needs to contain either original or certified copy documents only (or a mixture of both).

It should not contain any photocopies or scans that have not been certified.

It should not contain self-printed online bank statements unless they have been stamped by the issuing bank (or certified by a solicitor and compared against an original).

Any document in your 'original' application that is not an original must be certified by a solicitor on all pages (both front and back if the page is two sided) with the statement:

'I certify that this is a true copy of the original'.
    Name:
    Address:
    Date:
    Signature:

Certification must be done by a solicitor or a notary.
UKVI will not accept documents certified by the post office for example.

    Many thanks,
If the copy application pack goes to the vfs
What do you do with the original application pack ?
Also for example my birthday certificate is not the original but a new one obtained through the correct authority so I guess that's classed as an original?
    Sorry for these obvious questions

Any birth certificate including your recently obtained version is merely a certified copy of the entry in the register. It will be fine. You need to take the original pack and the copy pack to the Biometrics appointment at vfs. They will send the originals to the embassy to be returned to you later. They will keep the copies for records. A duplicate document from the issuer is classed as an original provided it'd the same as the original in all respects. Examples of that might be a duplicate bank statement or a replacement birth certificate. Just be careful with bank statements. They need to be full monthly statements on bank paper showing transactions and running balance. Not just a list of transactions.
