I wondered why Lazada are having a sale on the 11/11 makes sense now. They get most of the stuff from China.

    Philippine Amazon.

A not very good copy of Amazon, but more appropriate for the Philippines cash economy, you can pay for goods cash on delivery on some of these services, there are other similar online stores to Lazada but they are the biggest I think.

I tried to use them once but it was a horrible failure so I gave up.

How long ago was that Jim? I use them them all the time when I can't get stuff from the local stores. Had no problems if you use COD.

It was a few years ago I was trying to buy a musical instrument for the kids and it all went wrong and I wasn't able to do it in the end.

I was trying to use them from here in the UK to get stuff for the kids.

If they are better now I might give them another chance.

We use them for Christmas and birthday gifts and have found them to be ok.

Make sure it's COD, Jim. And check the goods before you pay, if it's damaged just don't pay and explain to the courier why you are not paying.

That's the thing, the whole reason for using online services like Amazon is to get the guarantees you get by paying by card, but of course they are not going to apply to a UK card used on a Philippine service, another reason is the safety of not having to carry that amount of cash, but yes the Philippines is a cash based society and will stay that way for a good long time I think.

I might be more likely to use it if I were actually there in the Philippines.

I bought an unheard of chinese laptop off amazon back in jan...8gb and 512 ssd storage..nice bit of kit all for £260..this was the one with no £ sign. Its been excellent..till it died a week ago. Contacted amazon who said send it back to us for a full refund..and they will reimburse postage. Fair doos..i thought...

    Enter parcelforce.

Bad idea. I sent it 24 hour fully tracked on the 4th..cost £15. This was with a printed amazon label with barcode...to Dunfermline Scotland. According to tracking..it arrived in Coventry friday afternoon..and was being sorted for delivery..yer right.
Its still showing on tracking as being in coventry (wednesday). Several phone calls later and no one knows where it is..and no return phone calls despite being promised.

Amazon say they need it back in order to process my refund.

    I guess im stuffed.
