Once transport is used away from cities, the roads can be rough and ready - more for adventurous types like backpackers.
Thailand's infrastructure is far superior and far more family friendly.
I haven't been over there for 8 years and I can't imagine roads in the province will have changed much since then.

I have been all over both countries, tourist areas and areas tourists didn't go back in the day (even now I would imagine places like sulu and jolo get very few western tourists), I always said and still maintain Thailand is much smoother for tourists, better infrastructure, food etc, its geared up for tourism.

One massive plus point for Thailand, you can pop into Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam or Cambodia without hassle.

We were due to stay in the Ascott in Bonifacio Global City last year until we had to cancel because of the Covid thing.

There's a lot of road widening where I live on Negros Oriental, which means power poles being relocated or replaced by Metal poles.
Du30 is doing things that previous presidents failed to do in the past. My town is going to have a new international airport.

One thing I used to dislike about dumaguete airport, you used to have to change tricycles halfway to Dgte, something about the city line, and the tricycle drivers used to be snotty about it charging way over the odds, taking off from the airport the views were fantastic, and it was a really short flight to mactan.

Yeah, Dumaguete airport is in Sibulan a different town. It depends on the trike from the airport, some have licences to operate in Sibulan only while others can operate both in Duma and Sibulan. you have to look at the numbers on the trike! 4 digits mean they can operate in Duma and Sibuln 3 digits means only Sibulan.
