okay.....! When Pope Francis visits the Philippines next week, traffic enforcers won’t let the capital’s streets get gridlocked if they have to answer the call of nature. About 2,000 traffic enforcers who will be on duty during the 15-19 January papal visit will be required to wear adult diapers, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman, Francis Tolentino, said. Tolentino also encouraged people who will wait for hours to see the pope to also wear diapers. The prospect of wearing diapers while on duty was “well received” by his men, he said on Wednesday. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jan/07/philippines-pope-francis
I still think the roads will be gridlocked whether the policemen wet their pants or not Big event for Filipinos everywhere as we all know.
There's a "dummy run" tomorrow - Police and traffic enforcers have been told to wear their diapers tomorrow whilst on duty for the festival of the Black Nazarene which always attracts massive crowds. Also Manila Airport will be closed for at least two and a half hours when the Pope arrives and when he leaves. PAL, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia/Zest have had to cancel over 200 round-trips to/from Manila and a number of international flights are also cancelled.
Hmmm, i've been conditioned since I was around 1 year old to control my bowels. I think I'd struggle to "let go" especially if I'm surrounded by thousands of people. I wonder if they (officers) will get any jibes whilst doing their duties
I seen the cancelled flights list but the international flights that they listed were filipino airlines only. I guess a non-national airlines mustn't be landing around that time frame and that's why they weren't listed.
I guess the reporter couldn't be bothered with a thorough analysis and just presented the filipino airlines!
When I went to Philippines this Xmas I took some incontinence pads as I have urge incontinence since the cancer op. I also sent some by balikbayan box and my fiancée's mum noted they were only size medium. But they are plenty big enough even though I am 38" waist. I only had to use them on the flights though.
I'm flying to work on the 14th with Emirates, I don't think there is a problem with them. As regards the traffic "enforcers" I'd wager that it would work better if they all stayed home.
How many litres does an "adult diaper" hold? I am sure that after a few bottles of red horse the officers capacity to chase traffic offenders will be severely impaired.
