Well, that's a first for me.

One aspect that caught my attention were the words used by Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr.
"We should not allow these undesirable aliens to undermine the integrity of our visa issuance system by submitting fraudulent documents................
staying in the Philippines is not a right but mere privilege of every foreigner which can be withdrawn and revoked anytime.."

Well, I hope UKBA is following this closely...........

Just close enough to get a few hints on how to jail people before deporting, as opposed to ask them to make their way to the nearest cop shop............

I think anyone using a fake marriage to get into the Philippines or anywhere else deserves all they get when they get caught, but as you say Peter these comments from the BI are a salutary reminder that you can take nothing for granted in the Phils.

If I ever get to live there I will keep a very very low profile, people obviously do settle there and manage to stay for a long long time but you could find yourself dispossessed and out on your ear at any time.

Kind of hard to believe considering the paperwork needed to get Marriage documents and have them legalized in our days. However, there is always a way apparently. And India, China and other places are particular known for places to get "impossible" stuff done.
On the other hand, way back in the eighties it was comon practise for the Immigration in Manila to "offer" Permanent 13a Residencies based upon this fake marriages for a fee...maybe the practise never died ?
