Pint of milk? Call the Philippines: Dairy tells families who live just two miles away to phone call centre on the other side of the world for their deliveries
    • Residents in Gloucester need to ring 7,000 miles away with delivery queries
    • Tory councillor said 'diabolical' that locals have to phone staff in Manila
    • Dairy Crest said the move was needed as milk orders are on the decline
    • Said customers who prefer to pay with cash can still pay delivery man

At least Filipino people are easier to understand than Indians on the phone!

I would be happy to suggest this to my local dairy, a small family business who still deliver to the door and who supply organic and raw milk as well.

And maybe the concept of a dairyman who delivers to the door could do well in the Philippines, which has less lactose intolerance than other Asian countries, and where children are encouraged to drink milk, for calcium.

K, living with her parents on their farm, has to go six miles into Molave to buy milk for Krian.

Fresh milk over there is both expensive and usually not very nice tasting :(

But my kids have never had a shortage of milk, all dehydrated stuff though, and hugely expensive when they were young, James still drinks far too much milk and eats too little solid food.

I used to buy milk, for my morning coffee, and "Parmesan" cheese, for my pasta, imported from Australia.

If there were doorstep deliveries of milk in the Philippines, I think the delivery vehicle would have to be refrigerated. I stopped having milk deliveries in the UK because the milk went sour on the doorstep in summer.

I think you actually dissolve Milo in water and/or milk for a hot drink. I think Milo will not dissolve in cold water.

Cebu Dairies, of Consolacion, Metro Cebu, does deliver fresh whole milk but you need to pre-order over the phone. There are several dairies here in southern Mindanao , the biggest and best being "Kim's Milk" which has a state-0f-the-art facility in Davao City and its milk is truly delicious, rich and creamy and costs around 60 Pesos for a litre bottle.
