Last year I took the missus to Northern Ireland for a tour round, I purposely went from Scotland to Belfast just in case we ran into any immigration problems going my usual route which is Holyhead to Dublin. In the last twelve months I must have been to Ireland half a dozen times at least without ever seeing an immigration officer at either end, because of this I was thinking that next time I go to Ireland with the wife I will go Holyhead to Dublin. Today I boarded the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and as usual there were no immigration officers. On driving off the ferry in Dublin the place was crawling with immigration stopping every vehicle and asking the nationality of everyone inside. Just a warning, if you do go the Dublin route make sure the paperwork is in order, better to go via Belfast and just drive down into the south of Ireland.
Always amazes me on any Euro Driving Trip that you can cross multiple borders and never once show your passport, in fact the only time you have to show it is when you arrive back in Dover.
That's too hard for them Dave, this is the first time I have seen them in Dublin for a very long time.
