Although the wife did biometrics prior to coming to the UK it looks as though she has to do them again according to the FLR(M) bumf. I decided to have a quick scan of which PO's provide the service so I jumped on the post office website where you can do a search of the local PO's by postcode, however it doesn't seem to show the PO's that provide the BRP in the list of services provided for each PO. With this in mind I enquired via email to their CS team with my own post code. It seems for me living in North Wales, my closest BRP station is in Liverpool! Bit of a journey for any one in the locality. However if you're interested it is :- Post Office Corn Exchange India Building Water Street Liverpool L2 0RR
I thought they did the biometrics again when you apply in person for the FLR, we will be applying in a month or so at Liverpool. I could do with finding out whether you get the biometrics done at a selected PO (mine is 5 miles away) prior to submission in person or do you get them done at the interview?
Timmers I thought your wife had only just arrived? If so, isn't it a bit early to be applyng now? Anyhow, I think if you do the in-person FLR they will take you biometrics then. If your doing by post, UK Visas and Immigration will give you a barcoded document to take to the post office, which you then send with your FLR application.
That's right, if you apply for the FLR by post then you get your biometrics done at one of the assigned POs. We intend to apply for our FLR in a few weeks after we are married. The reason we are proceeding with haste is because I start a new job in December that will be self employed and all my financial stuff will become a mess for a while, so I thought we would do it now whilst I am still working for a company and can submit payslips, bank statements and so on as we did for the Fiancée visa. Once self employed it will become a slightly different ball game when submitting financial documents for the FLR and I want to give myself the two and a half years breathing space before I have to apply whilst self employed. Oh, and getting the FLR soon will give my loved one the chance to start looking for work of course, once she gets her NI number.
I wonder why its not throughout the UK. When you get the biometrics done for the FLR do you get any sort of plastic card which says you are entitled to be in the UK etc or is there just another visa stamped in the passport?
Supply and demand I guess Timmers. Not sure to be honest. I'm guessing the passport is updated accordingly with FLR
