My wife has done the CFO thing yesterday and everything went smoothly. However, I almost paid and threw away a £750 plane ticket because I was so eager and too excited to see my wife! Luckily my wife saw the validity of the Visa which is from the 26th August!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I thought she was gonna be here as early as this week! never mind could be worse eh! :erm:

Close. Yes, its not uncommon for the actual visa to postdate the issue date.

My recollection is that the CFO dont issue a final sticker until the visa becomes valid. That may have changed however......

Did she get all she needed to do at the CFO done?

You are right Johnash they wont give you the sticker, However they told my wife that when she gets to NAIA before the flight, she can have it done there as well as an option . But you have to call them the day before the departure to arrange an appointment with them at NAIA. At least she wont have to go back to the seminar place for the sticker.:)

Ah. Okay. I wasn't certain as time has elapsed since my wife's visa. Well, thats good that she can get the sticker at the airport. :D We have just looked at my wife's sticker and visa as we are preparing her paperwork for ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain).

    Wow way to go! :)

My wife got 3 years multiple visa, does that mean she can go to other countries within that period?

Yes, it is a multi-entry visa. Though for settlements (ILR) they like to see your wife has lived in the UK, so in other words no heading off to the Philippines for half the year.. But heading overseas for holidays and stuff is normal and fine.

If you (your wife) want to visit another country in the EU, most require another visa, unfortunately. Known as a Schengen visa. My wife had to get one for holiday in Portugal this year. They are free but not hassle free, if you see what I mean.

My wifes visa was for 2 years. But she applied before they tightened up the rules. Now it is tougher, hence the difference. Before the rule changes a Spouse visa was good for 2 years then one could apply for ILR. Now it is ILR after 5 years with FLR after 3 years, unfortunately.
